Hi,
I had a DFS root on two Windows 2000 servers. I removed the root. On
one of the servers, the removal did not work. I attempted to remove it
again from the problem server.
First message - 'The specified service does not exist as as installed
service. Do you want to forcibly remove the dfs root' . I clicked
'yes'.
Second message 'The system can not find the file specified'.
Of course the DFS root is still there.
This problem server has had DFS problems before. When I used the
'ntfrsutl sets' command, it should the same replica set twice.
I have attempted the following
ntfrsutl /clean:mycomputername
Removal of all registry entries relating to the dfs share
removal of all active directory entries relating to the dfs share
stop frs, renamed the ntfrs database, started frs.
frs created a new ntfrs database
Where else is the dfs root setup stored ? How can I fix this.
Thanks.
Kind regards,
Michael.
