How to display more than 255 roots in the DFS snap-in
(too old to reply)

We are setting up mutiple DFS roots. The roots are all domain based
and we're using two 2003 servers. When we open up the DFS snap-in on
either of the servers it will only display the first 255 roots. We
have well over 350 roots. Any ideas on how we can get all the roots to
be displayed?

Even when we do a show root and expand the domain to browse it will
only show the first 255 roots.

Any help with this is appreciated. Thanks

I'm investigating this. Although I can't promise it, we may be able to
address this for 2003 SP1.

If you already have a PSS support contract, you should report this bug
through that channel. This may allow us to get a fix out to you more
quickly.

Thanks.

Hi,
I read you post on microsoft.public.windowsnt.dfs concerning the 255
root limitation in DFS.

I've just recommended DFS for a rather expensive document repository
project

Is the limitation that you can only VIEW the first 255 roots? Or can
you only have 255 roots in total?

Thanks in advance for any light you can shed

Its a restriction (bug) in the Show Roots dialog in the DFS UI. It will be
fixed in Windows 2003 SP1.
